Reality today is that
police
will misuse their powers
The origin of police is
simple. They are called COPS having been originating in England "constable on patrol". US Police forces began in
New York for
a simple reason.
The public was being attacked
by Thugs so the citizens hired their own Thugs. Unfortunately the
"police" often would act as thugs to the citizens which led to the
public requiring them to wear uniforms so they could identify them.
Remember we hired thugs and
often they act in that fashion to the citizens thinking they can do whatever
they want.
Given this the public often
needs to be seek remedy in the court system for the injuries they suffered.
Thankfully the law provides a Federal Remedy for police misconduct known as the
Civil Rights act. (1983)
